Ethics and Malpractice
The publication of Journal of Governance and Law Review (JGLR) involves a conscientious, systematic, and comprehensive process by publishers and editors, requiring efficiency, competence, and integrity. To uphold high ethical standards in scientific publishing, the publisher works closely with editors, authors, and peer reviewers. This ethics statement follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available at www.publicationethics.org.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
Publishing articles in JGLR is a crucial element in the development of a reliable and respected body of knowledge. It reflects the quality of the authors' work and the institutions supporting them. Peer-reviewed articles are essential to scientific methodology and require a shared commitment to ethical standards by all parties involved: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
The publisher of JGLR, under the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Teuku Umar, takes its publishing responsibilities seriously and ensures that commercial interests, such as advertising or sponsorship, do not influence editorial decisions. The editorial board also supports cooperation and communication with other journals and publishers when necessary.
Allegations of Research Misconduct
Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism in research and writing. If misconduct is suspected, the editorial board will follow COPE guidelines to investigate and resolve complaints fairly.
If proven, submitted manuscripts containing misconduct will be rejected. If already published, such articles may be retracted. Editors will assess the credibility of allegations, consider conflicts of interest, and seek clarification from authors. Institutions are expected to conduct thorough investigations when necessary. JGLR is committed to preserving the integrity of the academic record through appropriate corrections, retractions, or replacements.
Publication Decisions
Editors of JGLR are responsible for selecting articles for publication based on scholarly merit, relevance, and originality. Decisions are made without bias and comply with legal and ethical standards. Editors may consult with reviewers or the editorial board as needed.
Fair Play
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on intellectual content, regardless of authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political views.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any details about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished material in submitted manuscripts must not be used in editors’ own research without explicit written consent from the authors.

Peer reviewers assist in editorial decision-making and may offer constructive feedback to improve the manuscript.
Promptness
Reviewers who are unable to complete reviews in a timely manner should notify the editor and withdraw from the process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential and not shared or discussed with others unless authorized.
Objectivity Standards
Reviews must be objective and supported by clear arguments. Personal criticism of authors is not acceptable.
